Job description:

We are looking for a talented Design Release Engineer to join our team at MAVAR Dynamics and contribute to the design, development of future transmission and driveline systems. The position is in the Tunis Area with flexibility for some work from home.

Availability: Office Full-Time

Responsibilities:

System Design & Functional Development

  • Develop and integrate High Voltage Battery System (HVBS/HVES) solutions that meet vehicle, customer, and functional requirements.
  • Translate system objectives into technical requirements, concepts, and robust design solutions.
  • Lead concept development, feasibility studies, and performance standard definition while collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams.

Product Design, CAD & Packaging

  • Create and release component and system designs using CATIA/NX, including 3D models, 2D drawings, and GD&T requirements.
  • Develop battery modules, BDUs, harnesses, and related components from concept through production.
  • Lead packaging studies and coordinate with vehicle, battery pack, and design teams to resolve packaging and manufacturing constraints.

Validation, Quality & Standards

  • Develop and execute validation strategies, test plans, DFMEAs, DVPRs, and related quality documentation.
  • Define system-level testing, conformance requirements, and performance verification activities.
  • Ensure compliance with engineering standards, design practices, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Supplier & Component Development

  • Manage Tier 1 suppliers throughout design, validation, sourcing, and release activities.
  • Lead technical reviews and coordinate component development, prototype procurement, and production readiness.
  • Support sourcing activities and manage software and hardware releases.

Program Management & Product Lifecycle

  • Drive engineering programs from concept through launch, ensuring achievement of cost, quality, weight, timing, and performance targets.
  • Develop project timelines, manage budgets, track deliverables, and communicate status, risks, and mitigation plans to leadership.
  • Coordinate change management, configuration control, Teamcenter activities, and product roadmap planning.

Manufacturing & Launch Support

  • Support Design for Manufacturing (DFM), assembly process development, prototype builds, and vehicle integration activities.
  • Resolve manufacturing, packaging, and pre-production build issues to support successful launches.
  • Coordinate launch activities and continuous product improvements.

Technical Leadership & Issue Resolution

  • Provide technical leadership across cross-functional engineering teams and Design Release Engineers (DREs).
  • Lead root cause investigations, warranty analysis, field issue resolution, and corrective action implementation.
  • Champion engineering best practices, design reviews, and standardization efforts across programs.

Qualification & Requirements:

Automotive Engineering & Product Development

  • Experience in automotive product design, development, validation, and release.
  • Strong understanding of automotive applications engineering and product development processes.
  • Working knowledge of powertrain, engine, and transmission systems and components.

Design, Manufacturing & CAD

  • Experience with tooling feasibility for injection-molded plastic and decorative components.
  • Knowledge of casting, injection molding, and manufacturing processes.
  • Understanding of mold flow analysis and virtual validation techniques.
  • Proficiency in GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
  • Proficiency with NX and Teamcenter.

Engineering Analysis & Validation

  • Experience with engineering analysis and validation methodologies, including:
  • Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
  • Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)
  • Powertrain structural CAE analysis
  • DFMEA, DVP&R, and Design Verification processes

Quality & Continuous Improvement

  • Knowledge of quality and reliability tools, including DFSS (Design for Six Sigma).
  • Green Belt or Black Belt certification (DFSS, Shainin) preferred.
  • Understanding of preventive and reactive quality methodologies and problem-solving techniques.

Software & Communication Skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills.

Academic level:

  • Master's degree in a relevant field, such as Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics.
  • Engineer degree in a relevant field.
  • Doctorate degree in a relevant field.
