Job description:

We are looking for a talented Power Electronics Engineer to join our team at MAVAR Dynamics and contribute you will develop power electronics systems for a wide variety of applications from clean sheet through to hardware. This will involve developing requirements, circuit design, component selection and managing the implementation of prototype hardware for traction inverters, DCDC converters, On Board Chargers and other associated systems. Development of the functionality and performance of bespoke designs and new technology will be required. The position is located in the Tunis Area with the flexibility for some work from home.

Type of Contract: Permanent job

Availability: Office Full-Time

Responsibilities:

  • Define and own the system-level architecture, design methodology, and technical authority for power electronics systems, including magnetics, capacitors, and active/passive components across converter and inverter platforms.
  • Architect mixed-signal systems and embedded processing platforms, ensuring robust integration of sensing, control, diagnostics, and protection functions.
  • Architect and review control strategies for power converters and inverters, ensuring alignment with hardware constraints, EMC requirements, functional safety objectives, and system-level performance
  • Act as technical authority for functional safety and EMC compliance, guiding system architecture, design trade-offs, and verification activities in accordance with IEC 61508, ISO 26262, and CISPR
  • Identify, develop, and institutionalize new technical capabilities, design standards, and best practices aligned with long-term technology and business strategy.

Requirements:

  • Deep, hands-on experience delivering high-power power electronics systems (e.g., traction inverters, OBCs, DC/DC, AC/DC) and associated magnetics/actives/passives for demanding, safety-critical
  • Demonstrated capability as a technical authority across different safety-critical sectors (e.g., automotive, aerospace, off-highway, commercial vehicle, defense, clean energy, marine), including customer-facing technical leadership.
  • Proven experience in digital and mixed-signal control, sensing, and interface circuits, including embedded processing platforms and real-world implementation constraints.
  • Strong track record in EMC-aware design and noise mitigation, including layout practices, filtering, grounding, shielding, common-mode management, and test correlation/troubleshooting.
  • Expertise in multi-domain modeling and simulation of power electronic and magnetic systems (electrical, control, thermal, EMC), with demonstrated correlation between simulation and hardware
  • Experience with advanced motor drive control concepts (FOC, field-weakening, overmodulation, harmonic injection for NVH, fault handling and protection) across multiple machine types (1PM, SPM, IM/ASM, SR).
  • Demonstrated delivery of power electronics hardware from lab prototype through rig validation to production-intent or sector-qualification environments, including verification planning and
  • Strong competence overseeing PCB layout and design-for-manufacture/assembly considerations, including isolation, creepage/clearance, thermal paths, and mechanical packaging constraints.
  • Experience with thermal, fluid, and heat-transfer simulation and management for power electronics systems, including heatsinks, cold plates, and system-level thermal derating strategies.

Academic level:

  • Master's degree in a relevant field, such as Engineering or Computer Science.
  • Engineer degree in a relevant field.
  • Doctorate degree in a relevant field.
