Back Office Radio Access Network Engineer

Job Summary: 

As a RAN Engineer at Nokia, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, optimization, and maintenance of Radio Access Network solutions. You will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient and reliable operation of wireless networks, meeting performance targets, and delivering high-quality services to customers. This position requires a strong understanding of RAN technologies, wireless protocols, and a solid background in network engineering.

Responsibilities:

Design and configure Radio Access Network solutions, including base stations, antennas, radio network controllers, and related network elements.

Perform network planning activities, including site selection, capacity planning, and frequency allocation, to optimize network coverage and capacity.

Conduct network optimization tasks, such as parameter tuning, handover optimization, interference management, and quality of service (QoS) optimization.

Perform radio network performance analysis, including KPI monitoring, root cause analysis, and network troubleshooting to identify and resolve network issues.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including RF engineers, network operations, and core network engineers, to ensure seamless integration and coordination of network elements.

Conduct network testing and acceptance, ensuring adherence to performance standards and specifications.

Monitor and analyze network performance, capacity, and utilization, making recommendations for network optimization and expansion.

Develop and maintain network documentation, including network diagrams, configurations, and operational procedures.

Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies related to RAN, wireless protocols, and network optimization techniques.

Participate in the evaluation and selection of network equipment and vendors, providing technical expertise and recommendations.

Provide technical support and guidance to other teams, including network operations and customer support, to resolve complex RAN-related issues.

Qualifications:

(Nokia Experience is a plus)

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field. A master's degree is a plus.

Strong knowledge of Radio Access Network technologies, including 2G/3G/4G/5G, LTE, and associated wireless protocols.

Experience with Nokia RAN products, such as Nokia AirScale Base Stations, Nokia Radio Network Controllers, and related platforms.

Proficiency in network design and architecture principles, including coverage planning, capacity planning, and interference management.

Hands-on experience with network optimization and performance monitoring tools, such as drive test tools, network analyzers, and performance management systems.

Familiarity with network security principles and best practices for RAN networks.

Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex RAN-related issues.

Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Relevant certifications, such as Nokia SRC, CCNA, or other related certifications, are highly desirable.

Prior experience in the telecommunications industry or with service providers is a plus."
