Datacom Engineer

Job Summary: 

As an Engineer - MPLS at Nokia, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of MPLS solutions in the telecommunications network. You will play a key role in ensuring efficient and reliable data transmission by leveraging MPLS technology. This position requires a strong understanding of MPLS protocols, network architectures, and a solid background in network engineering.

Responsibilities:

Design and configure MPLS network solutions, including routers, switches, and related network equipment.

Deploy MPLS technology to optimize network traffic engineering, quality of service (QoS), and network resiliency.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze network requirements, develop MPLS designs, and ensure compatibility and interoperability with existing network elements.

Perform network testing and troubleshooting to identify and resolve MPLS-related issues, ensuring optimal network performance and reliability.

Monitor and analyze MPLS traffic, capacity, and utilization, making recommendations for network optimization and capacity planning.

Develop and maintain network documentation, including MPLS network diagrams, configurations, and operational procedures.

Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies related to MPLS, traffic engineering, and network performance optimization.

Participate in the evaluation and selection of network equipment and vendors, providing technical expertise and recommendations.

Provide technical support and guidance to other teams, including network operations and customer support, to resolve complex MPLS-related issues.

Collaborate with product management and engineering teams to contribute to the development and enhancement of MPLS-related features and functionalities.

Qualifications:

(Nokia Experience is a plus)

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field. A master's degree is a plus.

Strong knowledge of MPLS protocols, network architectures, and technologies, including MPLS VPN, MPLS TE, LDP, RSVP-TE, and MP-BGP.

Experience with Nokia MPLS network products, such as Nokia IP/MPLS routers (7750 SR, 7950 XRS) and Service Routers (7750 SR, 7450 ESS).

Proficiency in network design and architecture principles, including routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP), traffic engineering, and QoS.

Hands-on experience with network troubleshooting and diagnostic tools, such as packet analyzers, traffic engineering tools, and performance monitoring systems.

Familiarity with network security principles and best practices for MPLS networks.

Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex MPLS-related issues.

Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Relevant certifications, such as Nokia SRC, CCNP, or other related certifications, are highly desirable.

Prior experience in the telecommunications industry or with service providers is a plus."
